Well we are now in the middle of the great Minnesota get together. the crowds were great the first weekend and the food is better then ever so be sure to stop by and have fun this week at the MN State fair.
Well it’s bin a long weekend, my brother and I spent Friday and Saturday at the state fair grounds working on the cabins that will be used for the Ron Schara booth. It looked like things were coming together nicely with lots of vender’s setting up and getting ready for the start of the fair on Thursday. as usual there is going to be food vendors everywhere and a lot of interesting things for the kids and everyone else to see and do. I am going to try and blog after each day at the fair to let everyone know that we are still alive after talking to so many people. Hope everyone has a great week and I’ll see you at the fair.
There are a number of things happening in town right now. first, Walgreens is putting in a beautiful building on the corner of railroad street and 27. it Was very impressive to watch how fast and efficiently they were able to put the project together. The new store should provide new job opportunities and we look forward to the impact it will have on our local economy.
The second project will be at the other end of railroad street by 77. The owners of Dairy queen have decided to relocate to that corner and build a bigger building. this will add another fine eating establishment and be a significant upgrade on that corner.
perhaps the biggest project of all and the one that will provide the greatest boost to the local economy is the addition of Northwest Family Care to the area. It was confirmed this week that NWFC will make Hayward the home for there headquarters which will supply 37 professional-level jobs to our town. They do expect $2.9 million in payroll for headquarter employees in 2009, and $16 million for care management professionals by 2011. What NWFC offers to the community is in home health care to those that qualify, giving those people a different option the nursing homes or assisted living centers. I would like to thank NWFC for choosing Hayward and also a big thank you goes to the Sawyer County Development Corporation for seeing the importance of having this business in the neighborhood.
The moment you have bin dreading has finally come. You did what you could all Sumner, you kept the Menard’s and home depot fliers out of the house, you avoided home shows all year long, you even have avoided friends who have one. but sooner or later you knew this time would come, YOUR WIFE WANTS A GAZEBO!! why, why a gazebo, she could have went for something square and easy to build but no she had to go with the one building that takes more angles then a bad politician. Now the reason she wants a gazebo may be because they are romantic, or maybe because they are expensive, or that it will just look nice compared to the neighbors backyard. but it doesn’t really matter does it because either way your the one who has to figure out how to build this gazebo.
All the people we talked to that have built there own gazebo said that it took longer then any other room or project they have attempted around the house. but it doesn’t have to. the thing to remember is what looks to be the least expensive rout, does not always turn out that way in the long run. For example, Menard’s and home depot will sell you a gazebo kit for very cheap, but the lumber is not always the best and the kit usually amounts to nothing more then a cut list, which doesn’t really help you if your looking for a plan that takes less time. There are a lot of manufacturers that build gazebos in panelized kits, which is not a bad way to go but it still takes two or three fairly strong people to assemble one. Unless your a person who likes to use up all of your free time on one project all Sumner long, you will be looking for a third option.
What we like to tell people is that all they need is a lawn chair and we’ll do the rest. does that sound like what you had in mind? The thing is there not that hard to put together…..if you do it for a living like we do. so why struggle with hard to understand directions, lumber that looks like it got to close to a nuclear plant and so much stain on you arms and clothing that it looks like you executed a family of chocolate bunnies, when there are qualified people that do this everyday. Gazebos are an art that has taken us years to perfect, so when we bring your gazebo to your home you can be sure that you are getting the best in the business.

Monday and Tuesday I made three trips to the Fair grounds in Minneapolis. with the fair just weeks away, we are starting to setup the cabins that we are supplying for the Ron Schara, Minnesota bound booth. Ron is going to use our cabin porch to meet people and sign autograph’s. Also the too large cabins will be used for the Minnesota bound and love from Minnesota merchandise. We will be there in our cedar Gazebo to answer any questions you might have on our buildings. looks like it will be another fantastic fair with great entertainers so i hope to see you there.
